Lindell Audio LiNTEC – a single-channel, two-band studio equalizer in the program EQ tradition, with filter topology based on the classic Pultec EQP-1A. Solid-state instead of a tube output stage, custom-wound inductor, bespoke transformers, and an OPA 1731 op-amp – each unit hand-matched to within ±0.25 dB of the next, built specifically for confident stereo pairing.
Why solid-state over a tube
Lindell's decision to drop the tube amplifier from a Pultec-style circuit is backed by measurable reasoning: solid-state delivers a faster transient response while retaining the smooth, creamy low-end character the topology is known for, produces lower self-noise, and – critically for professional use – achieves unit-to-unit consistency that vintage tube hardware simply cannot guarantee. Every LiNTEC leaves the factory matched by hand to within ¼ dB. The OPA 1731 op-amp is the same discrete circuit used in Lindell's VIN and Retro 500 Series compressors. Input and output transformers are custom-designed exclusively for this unit. Notably, the LiNTEC adds harmonic content to signal even with all EQ controls at zero – transformer and op-amp coloration is always present in the signal path.
The Pultec low-end trick and everyday bus work
The LF section operates across 5 selectable frequencies (20, 30, 60, 100, 150 Hz) with independent boost and attenuation controls sharing the same frequency selector. Applying simultaneous boost and cut generates the well-documented Pultec low-end response: gain added below the selected frequency with a gentle dip immediately above it – tightening the bottom end without mid-bass buildup. The HF section offers 11 positions for boost and 8 for cut, with independently selectable frequencies and a shared Bandwidth control. All pots are stepped for fast, repeatable recall and straightforward stereo matching without test equipment. Hard bypass, IEC mains inlet, and balanced TRS I/O round out a clean, no-compromise layout in 2U.
